Engagement Session Style Guide by Lexington Wedding Photographers
What to Wear for Your Engagement Session
Congratulations on your engagement! The real wedding planning starts now! One of the first wedding vendors that we recommend booking for your wedding date is your photographer because once they’re booked, they cannot accept any other weddings for that day! Our clients receive a complimentary engagement session upon booking us for the wedding. An engagement session is a great way to get to know your photographer and allow them to teach you posing techniques that will make your wedding day photos so easy and turn out just the way you envision. There are many Lexington engagement session locations that are accessible and beautiful and we would love to help you choose your perfect location! You can even book one of our videographers to create a cinematic video of your engagement session for a small fee! You can click here to find out more about our videography services! Many of our clients want to know what they should wear to their engagement session so here are some tips and tricks to making your photos look extra gorgeous!
Tips and Tricks for Your Lexington Engagement Session
Choose 1-2 outfits that you really love!
Coordinate with each other and dress on the same scale.
Start with your favorite piece of clothing and build around it.
Choose what you feel great in…don’t worry so much about the color!
Consider doing your hair and makeup trial that day!
Girls, heels help to elongate your legs and look so feminine! But, if you aren’t accustomed to wearing heels, it’s totally okay to wear some girly flats!
Guys look best in well fitting pants and close toed shoes!
Get rid of the phone and keys…they will show up in your photos!
Patterns can be fun, just don’t go overboard and take the attention away from YOU! Small patterns such as tiny plaids or checks can photograph a little weird so be aware of that too!
Long flowy skirts, fit and flare dresses, and full skirts look feminine and soft.
Pastels and neutrals such as creams, pale pinks and tans look romantic in photos.
Bold colors such as black and red have a more classic look.
There are not any colors that I would advise against…it’s more about what you personally love and look great in and being mindful when choosing patterns.
